Summary:

Our client is in immediate need of a Diamond Turning Technician for programming, setting up, and operation to produce precision optical components.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Perform in-process inspection and communicates results.
  • Must be able to set up and test Optical testing equipment - Zygo Interferometer
  • Must be able to operate Mechanical test equipment - Taly Surf, Calipers, Micrometers
  • Understand Lean Manufacturing Fundamentals including 5S standards and housekeeping
  • Responsible to ensure Department yield levels are kept over 98%
  • Work Off shifts as required Including weekends

Requirements:

  • Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in related discipline
  • 10 years plus experience in CNC Machining
  • Competent shop math and algebra skills require, Computer programming/CNC skills
  • Stand for long extended periods
  • Position will be day shift with future off shift rotation or fixed B shift
  • Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident
