Key Account Manager.  A good client of ours is looking for a Key Account Manager with experience in Lasers.  Ability to work from a home office is required.
 
The Key Account Manager will manage the sales and relationship activities from the company’s largest accounts and potential new accounts; generating and following up on new, significant lead closure, educating customers on the company’s product lines; managing key accounts in all aspects – servicing customers, coordinating technical assistance/resources, and providing input to the business units on competition.
 
The Key Account Manager will also monitor the progress on key projects and ensure the communication and subsequent actions are taking place between the customers and internal departments.  He/she will coordinate technical, business and sales meetings, both in-person and via telephone, web or videoconference to further the business relationship.  He/she will monitor global interaction between key accounts and the company, whether within or outside of the established territory of responsibility.
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage sales territory and all assigned key and major accounts.
- Build relationships with top accounts at all levels and with all functions.
- Visit potential and existing customers
- Identify and pursue potential new business opportunities.
- Manage all key customer issues while maintaining profitability and generating new business from new and existing accounts
- Review/negotiate pricing and terms, adhering to defined limits regarding margins, exposure and liability, and to maximize company profits.
- Follow up on leads generated for the territory.
- Provide input on open customer issues re: Quality, Delivery, Open Quotes, Projected PO’s, and NBO’s
- Work with Inside Sales, Applications Engineers, Product Managers, etc. to assist in customer relations.
- Generate trip summaries, forecast of bookings and shipments by customer and product line and potential new business, monthly sales activity reports.  Report Sales prospects, quotations activity and bookings probability.  Participates in BU master schedule Meetings with BU PLM/Ops/Finance.
- Set-up and maintain customer files in Goldmine or other Customer Relationship Management tools; ensure that there are systems in place to keep the database current.
- Work with Business Unit Leadership, BU Site Sr Staff , Product Line Managers and  Customer Service to increase sales through strategic planning.
- Identify and coordinate information to other divisions regarding sales opportunities.
- Maintain cross-selling program in assigned territory
 
Requirements:
- B.S. or equivalent in Optics, Engineering or Physics (preferred), or other technical or scientific field.
- Eight years related experience in field/technical sales of lasers.
- Familiarity with general scientific terms relating to light, optics, and/or lasers
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Self-motivated, organizational skills, planning skills, communications skills, (oral & written) presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel; estimated 60% overnight stay.  Possess a valid passport for infrequent international travel.
