Optical Communications Engineer, Test

Summary:
Develop new and maintain existing test stations for fiber-optic modules.
 
Responsibilities:
•             Generate test procedures for present and future fiber-optic products.
•             Analyze test data for product development and production modules to determine compliance with specifications.
•             Trouble-shoot technical issues associated with test stations and failing modules.
•             Maintain calibration of test equipment to ensure compliance with industry best practices and ISO 9000 certification.
•             Maintain configuration control over test software including responsibility for engineering release of software, engineering change orders, and training and auditing of technicians and associates.
•             Support product development activities in the US and Japan and manufacturing facilities in the US and Asia. 
•             Support the transfer of manufacturing lines from the US to Asia.
•             Assist in the development of policies, procedures and processes, implement best practices, and motivate directly supervised staff.
•             Inspire collaboration and teamwork among the team.
 
Qualifications
•             Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering or science discipline
•             5 years of progressive experience in a development and manufacturing environment. Advanced education will be considered as equivalent years of experience.
•             Test equipment and software experience.
•             A strong background in optics.
•             Experience with Labwindows (C) is strongly desired.
•             Strong problem-solving skills. 
•             Strong operational, process, and customer orientation.
•             Hands-on capability and management style.
•             Team-oriented, bright, forward-thinking, and creative.
•             High energy level with strong interpersonal skills.
