This is a great opportunity to play a key role in improving production performance by implementing innovative/up-to-date processes, maximizing employee performance, and improving quality.
 
Summary
The Production Manager will manage all aspects of optical component manufacturing, implementing production goals, lowering costs, improving quality and putting in place effective manufacturing procedures.  He/she will directly manage the the optical fabrication shop providing leadership, direction, and guidance, ensuring they understand the strategy and goals of improving manufacturing, monitoring and mentoring their supervisory skills, and working with them to resolve production issues.
 
The Production Manager will be the key driver of continuous improvement resulting in quality improvement, on-time delivery, and cost reduction.  He/she will lead by example to create an environment where constant acquisition of new skills, growth in capability and outstanding quality is the source of employee pride and profit.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and schedule all work throughout the shop.
  • Manage a team of supervisors and make sure that goals production goals are met.
  • Monitor work flow and employee performance
  • Recognize and navigate around production bottle necks.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance issues
  • Communicate with GM and sales about projects status and backlogs
  • Manage internal rejections and returns, and to keep the reject rate to a minimum.
  • Optimize the functionality and efficiency of employees and machinery
 
Qualifications:
A technical degree (Optical Engineering or similar) is desired but not required.
5+ years experience in optics manufacturing with at least 3 years in supervision is required. Experience with effectively implementing and maintaining a disciplined, systematic approach to manufacturing is required. 
  • Strong knowledge/experience in optical fabrication technology.
  • Knowledgeable in optics manufacturing processes including fabrication, polishing, grinding etc, and quality assurance testing techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of an international organization and with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to deal effectively with differences of opinion, to influence, to draw ideas from others and to negotiate and mediate.
  • Ability to set and maintain a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and competency.
  • Proven ability to continually motivate employees and provide leadership to the workforce with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
