A good client is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with design experience in optical/laser systems.

SUMMARY
:
The Mechanical Engineer will analyze and design complex mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems. He/she will works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles, exercising independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The ME will plan and direct sub-projects or project phases, and provide technical direction and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. The ME reviews extremely complex designs and engineering changes for feasibility of production and assembly before releases.   He/she establishes and defines theoretical basis and principles of application, test procedures, costs and staffing requirements necessary for project completion.  He/she determines and organizes the means to achieve solutions of complex technical problems, working on extremely complex problems where analysis of data or situations requires an evaluation of intangible, variance factors.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design complex mechanical systems
  • Develop project schedules, track and communicate project status
  • Review, and assist with, work of lower level engineers and technicians
  • Research and analyze complex mechanical systems (e.g. FEA analysis of systems)
  • Create parts and assembly drawings using Solid Edge and detail parts using geometric tolerancing
  • Research trends in materials, adhesives, positioning techniques
  • Participate on and/or lead cross-functional teams, working with others to resolve issues
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Complies with health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Supports company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actions.
 
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assistance with Baan issues
  • Prepares various technical reports
  • Directing lead personnel on daily activities
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing activities
  • Monthly program status review of development tasks
  • Interfacing with customers and vendors

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. Mechanical Engineering or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Rel 14 and Solid Edge
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of drafting practices
  • Thorough working knowledge of FEA analysis
  • Demonstrate  a high degree of accuracy to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Good written and oral communi­cation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft software
  • Projects a friendly, positive attitude and works cooperatively in a multi-faceted environment
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to focus efforts, overcome obstacles and complete key objectives
