General Job Description:

The Test Engineer will be responsible for product assessments, tests, and inspections, factory validation, in coordination with US and foreign suppliers, foreign sourcing offices, and foreign test service providers. Select factories for new products, document specifications and requirements. Integrate all available supplier / factory / product data and analyze metrics and reporting to effectively monitor quality, service, cost, and risk components of each process. Monitor the implementation of continuous improvement / corrective / preventive action plans throughout each process. The Test Engineer will drive criteria design activities for re-engineering and new product introduction. 

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - 
  • Analyze metrics and reporting to effectively monitor quality, service, cost, and risk components of each process.
  • Monitor the implementation of continuous improvement, corrective, and preventive action plans throughout each process.
  • Integrate all available supplier, factory and product data.
  • Drive specification and design activities for re-engineering and product introduction. Review test reports, evaluate and verify compliance with product definition, specifications, feature sets and operation of products. Write technical documentation for engineering product planning.
  • Assist team members in laboratory, field and customer problems, investigations, and solution testing.
  • Evaluate and document cost / benefit trade-offs between prevention, detection, and failure response activities.
  • Evaluate test and inspection results and determine root causes of failures. Drive continuous product improvement efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - 
  • Experience communicating with and sourcing products from manufacturers in Asia.
  • Familiarity with telecom and datacom regulatory test standards and test methodologies.
  • Familiarity with fault isolation and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes of optical modules and switches
  • Knowledge of optical fiber
  • Ability to provide technical customer support for product portfolio.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -  
  • Familiarity with project management techniques.
  • Experience working with cross functional project teams.
  • Familiarity with 2D CAD drawings and 3D solid modeling CAD software.
  • Ability to read schematics and familiarity with PCB schematic capture software.
  • Ability to read software code and basic programming or scripting skills.
